br>This was more or less my initial reaction to Sláinte, a new Irish pub near Oakland's Jack London Square. New Irish pub — is that an oxymoron? Don't Irish pubs have to have just always … been there? Sláinte — “cheers” in Ireland, pronounced SLAN-chuh — comes to us from partners Jenny Schwarz and.

I acknowledged I was looking for exceptional fish and chips having had them in London.
Ok, so I'm a nut, always hoping for the best.
I didn't find it here.
But the owner, trying to convince me that they knew what they were doing, told me that she had worked in fish and chip shops in Ireland slainte oakland London, that the chips were triple fried, and the fish double see more, and in beef tallow.
And then, she sad sadly, perhaps they were not for "everyone.
Not a common dish like fish and chips, and not in the hopes that your customer will back off and think, "maybe I'm not good enough for this high end establishment"?
The fish and chips came out luke warm.
If they had been double and triple fried, it was sometime in the distant past, as they had either been slainte oakland to be reheated or spent some time languishing under the hot lights.
Even if the fish wasn't up to par, the chips should have been.
But they were easily the saddest chips I have ever seen.
Even McDonald's would have done better.
And who knew McDonald's was Irish?
What this place needs is less attitude, less we're "authentic," and better cooking.
And the owner needs to get a slainte oakland />We arrrived at Slainte at approximately 12:30pm on a Sunday Afternoon.
We were greeted right away and decided to slainte oakland at the bar.

The fish http://the-best-slots.win/games-for/godzilla-games-for-pc.html a nice big piece of cod.
Served with Malt vinegar and coleslaw.
Had to have a Bloddy Mary with it.
I would highly recommend this fun place.
Up front, I come here most Sundays to plat at a traditional Irish music session.
I am not paid so I do not think that disqualifies me.
Anyway, the pint of Guinness is the best in the East Bay and the fries are the best I have had in a long time.
The menu is good if quite small.
Prices are a bit high but I attribute that to the location.
